i had this really close friend in 10th grade. we had a blast together and she showed what it means to have a GOOD friend. at the end of the year she ditched me... just like that. and no matter how much she hurt me i still want her back should i even try...??

That's a loaded question. First I'd ask you, do you know why she ditched you? Because that could make a world of a difference. When I was going through hell, I left my school. For me, I sent a letter to my friends semi-explaining myself. I've been childhood friends with all of them, but they knew nothing of the hell I was living through and what was going on behind closed doors in my home. But some people don't feel comfortable or capable of explaining things. Is it possible that she was going through something really tough and just didn't have the strength to tell you? You say that "she showed you what it means to be a good friend". So it seems out of character that she just ditched you. Is it possible to reach out to her and find out why? You have to figure this out for yourself - but suggestion - try reaching out to her. Tell her that you care about her and miss her friendship. Don't accuse her of abandoning you, since you don't know why that happened. Maybe ask her about it and talk?
