Ok so heres the deal. I know we have emunat chachaim, but how can we be sure that the text of the gemara that we have now is an accurate transmission of what was put down by Rav Ashi when we have rishonim who have minor different versions of the text? Its like, were both versions in the gemara at some point in the past?

my understanding is that the differences are due to printing errors and the like. The differences we have on record are presumably the commoner ones, and more likely ones. I wouldnt worry about it.
