What should we do about the situation where teens and young adults feel alienated either by their family or school. They feel that people don't understand them. Their misbehavior is interpreted as rebellion, but they are really acting out of pain. The more we punish, the further they go astray. We need to show that we love and care about them. But don't make them a pity case. Just acknowledge how they feel and show them that we genuinely care
