Hi,

Can someone who has answers please answer me:

Who is Hashem? What is He? Why does he care if someone keeps Shabbos or y"t? what is he? I'm just confused about it all...

Thanks in advance!

Hashem is the creator of the entire world. What is He --- I'm sure Rabbi Shapiro has quotes and real answers he can give you from sefarim (he used to put out tapes on this topic) but I can give you the answers I know from my own limited experience and knowledge.

He is a creator and a G-d. A being who is everywhere.

He gave us rules on how to live in His world, because we are meant to be like Him. To be in this world, we need to emulate Him. He gave us Shabbos and Yom Tov as gifts. If we use them right and learn about it, we'll realize how much of a gift they are. Don't you ever feel bad for people that don't have them??? Sometimes I see a non-jew just jammin' to some music and I just think how empty their life is. There is no G-d and no rules and no Shabbos. That just feels empty to me, with no meaning.

If you really love someone, you are allowed to give them rules to live by. You might say, I love you but you have to exclusively love me and no one else. You also have to visit me at least once a week and it would be nice if you could call me once a day and think about me often. This would come out of love from you. When you know someone loves you and does things out of love, you listen to them and do what they want.

If some strange dude started making you do things for him, you might say "who is this guy? And why should I listen to him? What does he care?" So maybe that means you need to understand first and foremost how much Hashem loves you, so that you won't need to question - who is this dude?
