The opposite of how it's prenseted in society, really. The Greeks didin't want to kill us, but to make us asimilate. And they ewre doing a good job of it. Many, maybe most, poeple diidnt see anyhting wrong with them. They supported them, joined them, tried to be like them. They looked down on and ridiculed those who resisited. They thought they were in the right, too. But some resisted anyway. Logically, they had no hope. The greeks were too powerful. And it was our own brothers who joined up with them. When they fought back, they fought back aginst Jews as well. And Im sure the people, including jews then condemned the maccabees. But they went anyway. And in the end, the miracle happneed and they were vindicated at last.
Channukah is about standing up against everyone for whats right, no matter the impossible odds. No matter what they say, no matter what happpnes.
