Sitting alone, my face a blank stare,
I study the girls, those without a care.
Laughing and singing, while they run from room to room,
While I stay behind, a hostage to the gloom.

My lips start to quiver, wanting out of this place,
Confused in my mind, but strong in my faith.
I plead with Hashem, to hold me up high,
Give me reason to smile, please don't let me cry.

I begin a silent prayer, in the dark of the night,
And the depths of my heart begin to take flight.
I feel the tears coming, I can't hold them back,
And they drown me in the multitudes of things that I lack.

I draw out the conclusion that life can't be fair,
Just how could it be that G-d really cares.
He puts me in the water and leaves me no paddle,
He says that it's time for me to fight my own battle.

And as I lift up my arms to give up this fight,
Out of my abyss appears a beautiful light.
Searching for it's cause, one small hint,some small strace,
I begin to feel the most loving embrace.

And then a quiet whisper, the most beautiful sound,
Fills up the air and engulfs me from all around.
He says, listen my child, you are never alone,
I hear every word, every sigh, every groan.

I will be the friend to pick you up when you're down,
And I'm always here for you, when no one else is around.
I will be your Mother, who wipes away your tears,
And I'm forever your Father, who drives away your fears.

Never forget, I am always by your side,
And with that, the voice left, as fast as it arrived.
And now, once again, as I'm alone in the dark,
I just can't seem to feel it, for now I have a spark.
