Start with God - the first step in learning is bowing down to God; only fools thumb their noses at such wisdom and learning.

Two problems.

1) שמא יסחוט on your bathing suit,
2) If you swim without a bathing suit it is prohibited by way of Minhag. We do not immerse in pools except for Dvar MItzvah.

It means it is prohibited Rabbinically because we are afraid that a person wring out his bathing suit, which is a Torah prohibition.
