Either-or. But the Mishna Brura says it is preferable to put the personal prayers at the end of the Shemonah Esrei. There are 2 points in shmoneh esrai to insert personal prayer-in shma kolainu and right before yehyu liratzon, at the end of shmoneh esrai.
Which is the correct time for personal prayer?

Well thats true, and its not just the Mishna Brura, but don't do it. The reason is, you need to be 100% knowledgeable in what exactly each Bracha means in order to categorize your requests properly. Brachos like Refaeinu are pretty easy to understand but other Brachos are not so simple. There is nothing to lose, and you eliminate the risk of putting your request in the wrong Bracha, by just putting all personal prayers at the end of Shemoa Esrei. That is the recommendation of the Mishna Brura.HEY, this shabbos i just learnt something absoulutely amazing!!!!!the speaker said that the mishna berura says that in addition to the personal prayers you can add at the end of shema koleinu and at the end of the teffila you can also add in EACH bracha request that have to do with that bracha!!! he said that for men davening with a minyan this might be a problem. but for girls who are davening by themselves this is 100% okay. i found this to be incredible.

but i DO have what to lose. by adding my personal prayers in each bracha the teffila becomes more alive to me! and i can connect much better.
so if i can learn what each bracha means why shouldnt i do it??

OK, then do it, BUT:
but i DO have what to lose. by adding my personal prayers in each bracha the teffila becomes more alive to me! and i can connect much better.
so if i can learn what each bracha means why shouldnt i do it??
1) Please understand that ideally - and this is your goal here - we should find the Tefilos very, very alive on their own. You should work toward that end. The way to do it is, learn about HOW and WHY davening works, the meaning of the Tefilos, and always have in mind that you are talking straight to Hashem, one-to-One. This therefore is a temporary exercise because it is needed.
2) Learn the meaning of the Brachos before you insert your own Tefilos into them.
3) Perhaps most importantly - instead of taking the things that you want to pray for and then trying to find where they belong in Shemona Esrei, do it the opposite way - when you learn about what a Bracha is about, think of whether you have something to pray for that belongs there, and then put it in. In other words, if let's say someone needs Parnasa. Where would they insert that into Shemoa Esrei? The proper place is in the Bracha of Mevarech HaShanim. But instead of searching for what Bracha to put the prayer in, first learn the meaning fo the prayers, and when you come to Mevarech HaShanim you'll learn that this Bracha is for Parnasa. Then, after you learn that, think if you have anything personal you want to put into the Bracha and then do it.
The reason I say this is because if you try to search for Brachos to put your personal prayers into, you'll likely create some forced, non-Glatt kind of associations. But if you first learn what the Bracha is about, and then think if you have anything personal to insert there, you'll avoid that pitfall.
If you do it this way, you'll find that there will be some "leftover" personal prayers that you did not end up fitting in to any particular Brachos. Leave those for the end of Shemoa Esrei rather than trying to find Brachos for them. If you could not associate them with a Bracha the first way, let it go.

Well you can't ask for anything, so if you're telling Hashem you want those things on your life I assume you're not doing so just for His information - you'd be doing so because you want Him to give them to you. That's a Bakasha and we don;t do that on Shabbos.watabout 2 ask 4 just things in life.... my "shopping list" or wtvr is on my mind....?
I'm not sure what you mean by "whatever is on my mind."
