Is classical music okay?

If it keeps you from listening to worse stuff, keep listening to it. If it does not serve such a purpose for you, see the Shelah I cited above on 5/13.

I've heard that it s ussur to listen to jewish music that has words of pesukim or chazal if you are NOT CONCENTRATING ON ITS MEANNIG i guess because its like a waste of Torah or something.
if this is true then you would not be allowed to listen to this type of music while multitasking, or play it in your house while everyonee is walking around, ding their own thing.... correct?

Well such a thing is not really prohibited any more than would be prohibited to not pay attention when the teacher is teaching Torah to your class.

k, so i have a few questions, firstly, i used to hate jewish music, i really couldnt stand it- my mother would beg me to listen to anything but i just couldnt. i listened to the worst of the worst. but ive come a long way since then, B"H and now, at this point i cannot stand listening to non jewish music, i still have a lot to work on, like i do listen to classical music, or some israeli songs and im glad that i read abput the steps so i can further clean out my itunes. but, while i was going through my "conversion" from nonjewish to jewish music, i had been listening to music that wasnt hebrew at all, it was english words composed by a jewish singer, that was calming and inspired me to keep doing the right thing and to become better. and i was only listening to that and helped me to become better. but is that music considered to be okay? like for me now- ive gone up from that level, and i listen to better things- but i still enjoy nice english songs, especially because i dont realy understand the hebrew ones, and i still connect to it. are the english but jewish and nice songs okay to listen to?

2#- when i excersice, i used to listen to the music fromm the radio(goyish ones) and i never thought i would be able to do it w/out that music. but now when i go on, i listen to some songs which DO have words of posuk or chazal in it, and as i walked i was singing the words and i was even inspired to that lifestyle of Torah and to do Mitzvos, and when i finished i felt elated and uplifted and i felt ready live the words that i sang- is that okay to do? i can switch but im just wondering

3#- ive written songs in the past and they were inspired by non jewish music- they used to be my pride and joy but as i look back at them, they remind me of dark times, i still write some stuff now, when i do they are catered more to change and growth, what should i do with all this? i still feel accomplishment with all those songs that i wrote- it was my feelings- but, what should i do with this writing songs business, im confused.

thank you for reading- and thank you for helping us all to become better
sorry this is so long

1. Yes, English songs that were composed by Jewish composers are fine, if they are in the spirit of what we believe music to be. Names like Abie Rotenberg, Yakov Shwekey, and Dina Storch come to mind.

2. Just a suggestion - for exercise, there are great Jewish tracks that have the music to Jewish songs, but without the words of the פסוקים. That might be more appropriate on some level. What you've done is a giant step forward - כל הכבוד. I would suggest looking for a CD like "Jewish Dance Trax" or something of the sort.

3. If what you're writing now is fine and appropriate, and intended to inspire the right feelings... go for it. I think that as you immerse yourself more in the Jewish music, the Jewish music will become your inspiration.

Hatzlachah.
