I feel like I don't know what kind of Jew I am- I don't fit into any category neatly- and it's making me feel lonely...then I wonder if I even HAVE any thoughts on key issues...then I wonder what counts as a key issue at all. What questions would you ask to determine this?

I don't really know, because all of the old categories- yeshivish, chasidish, MO, etc- have kind of all smushed together and become irrelevant as far as I have observed. I just mean that when people ask how frum I am, I have no idea what to say, and I'd like to have a serious answer.

Just say you're "just Jewish."

Just know this causes people who are trapped in box thinking (IE grand majority of Jews) to not like you.

OK, put it this way: If these categories would not be, as you put it, shmushed together, in what way would you be like each of the different categories?
