Why is there still a prohibition of taking medicine on shabbos? I dont think that anyone is going to grind their meds, just take what was bought from the pharmacy or store.

The rule is, any Takanah implemented by the Rabbonim is not void even if the reason seems not to apply anymore. You need an authority of equal stature to undo the Takanah and of course we do not have any. (Obviously we cannot have lesser authorities deciding on their own where and when Takanos of Chazal should apply.)
