Law Office Party - Assur?

This question probably applies to any office setting, not only legal. You know, one of those where a whole department goes to a bar in suits and it's bad form not to attend where bosses will be and all that (especially an "official" summer party), though amount of alcohol being consumed there may turn things a bit out of control.

Is the best thing to do to show your face for ten minutes and leave or not to show up at all and make up an excuse?

Whether it is totally Assur depends on details. But regardless, it is better not to show up and make an excuse.
